racing for your life atalanta style

At this point Atalanta had more than a reputation as a good huntress, she was one of the famed Calydonian Hunters and EVERYONE wanted to be around her. I suppose it wasn't much of a surprise that her father got back in touch, becuase he did. Atalanta returned to her father's house on the conditions that she could remain a virgin. Her father agreed, but soon suitors were pushing down the doors and her father changed his mind. Sort of. He and Atalanta decided that she would marry the man who could beat her in a footrace, and any man who lost would die.

At this point atalanta become a symbol of leadershipand the Calydonian Hunters became part of her following.  Her father and the linage heritage of drathera become reconnected through her and the new beast boar collusion she help anagurate. She returned to the royal linage and house detha as a virgin , meaning she had gained ascention through the partheo and the rites of artemis. She was later beset by suiters trying to sway her, though she had vowed herself to marriage through the rites of lathata, and only an emanation of God, though not all parthenas vowed only to an emanation of God, right satheo , the desire to mate a god is important. The genealogies and houses of the lands were trying to with themselves with her petranage.  The deal was only a male who xcoyuld keep up with her fervous and way of line could marry her, they called this the race, thae pact race as some call it today.  Racing as number one, you better be equally a number one, with hert that probably meant a divine being, or she would kill you , not in bed , but by the shame of your inferiority.

"I am not to be won till I be conquered first in speed. Wife and couch shall be given as prize unto the swift, but death shall be the reward of those who lag behind."
[Atalanta to the suitors. Ovid, Metamorphoses 10.570]

So do not lag behind in the race of the energizer rabbot that never fell asleep till long after winning the race. A playful; bunny.
